Where Advertising dreams come to life

I have found that design and photography sometimes are the opposite sides of the same coin. By this I mean that they both have their place, and they are always better together. Photography is always improved by good layout and copy.

The closer I have worked with clients on their images the more they have engaged me to create their layout and brand designs. This page is filled with examples of my layout and design.

The most exclusive of whiskies and
the most challenging of briefs

A challenging brief. An exclusive brand of Scotch Whiskey that wanted to create a larger brand appeal without upsetting established customers. In a way its an oxymoron, – how do you increase sales without damaging the exclusivity of your brand?

My solution was to make the offering for everyone who appreciates a fine Whiskey. This way all the heritage that went into the creation of such a fine Whiskey will always be appreciated, even though it is limited in its supply, and should be respected just like a fine work of art.  

My big idea for this project was that it is an artisan who had hand crafted this fine drink,and it is a drink for those that know and appreciate what goes into making fine things. 

The copy appeals both to those that are aspirational and also to those who are the well healed who can afford such an exclusive fine whiskey.

When I started shooting for Vandoros ribbons my role was to establish the look for the brand. I recognised they needed to express their brand in a way their customers could understand the tactile qualities of the beautiful ribbons they were buying and how a ribbon added to anything transformed whatever it was added to. It had the ability to change a present into a gift. It’s all in the presentation.

Vandaros Ribbons have a diverse market of consumers looking to find ribbons that transform presents into gifts.

Many of their customers are into scrap booking and textural story telling.

These images were used for trade show banners, trade magazine ads, promotional flyers and web content.

Ideation for stopping the
epidemic of Loneliness

This is a concept that was designed to reduce loneliness in Australian cities. I created the layout and the design of the posters. The idea of WE3 is – if three people get together then you can never be lonely, because you are always looking out for each other.

I didn’t want the look to be too clean and corporate. I was inspired by images I had seen on Pintrest of old Soviet era matchbox art. So I copied and re – invented the design to give a modern spin on how we choose to connect on a cultural and personal level.

The poster are designed to fit into bus shelters and for social and magazine page ads.

Beautiful Waiheke

How do you improve perfect?

Waiheke Island was a sleepy hippy retreat that sits of the coast of Auckland. It was for many years it has been the weekend retreat for Aucklanders who want a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of the city for the weekend. 

The challenge that sat behind this ad idea was how to attract Aucklanders back to something they already know so well? 

The pieces you may say just fell together.

Fullers is a local ferry service that runs across all the areas of Auckland harbour and the near islands. This is a cheeky idea I mocked up for romantic getaways that would support local tourism.


This is a mockup idea for H&R Block using humour for a quite serious accounting firm that is designed to appear to a younger audience who would be just joining the work force.

Layout for ACMO


Beach Queen is a small startup business from the South West of Sydney. As the business was developing the two partners could not decide on how they wanted the brand to look and so reached out to me to create a brand identity and look book that could extend into all of their ad content both online and in print this included their logo and their social and web assets. I chose to create a resort feel that would sit well on the high street, creating an aspirational  slightly up market feel for their brand. 

To complete their brief I had  to create video for instagram, Web banners, a landing web page, posters for in store and bus shelters. Also an app that could be used for online purchases from initial browsing to check out, wire framed in Adobe UX.
